How to Pick Blueberries

Pick only ripe blueberries! White and green blueberries will not ripen after picking.

A ripe blueberry is a fully blue color all the way around the berry. Berries with a blush of red will not be sweet and need more time on the bush to ripen up.

Ripe berries should separate from the bush very easily. If you roll the berries between your thumb and palm, they should fall right off.

Please be sure to pick all of the ripe berries! Picking the bushes clean helps keep the crop in good condition and makes for a longer season.

We measure our blueberries in buckets and pints. After picking into a bucket, we will have you empty the bucket into a flat to take home. This keeps berries from getting crushed while you store them.

Keep your berries as cool as possible on your way home and place them in the fridge as soon as you get home. Do not wash them until you are ready to eat them as excess moisture can cause them to spoil faster.
