The Best Way to Freeze Blueberries
Freezing blueberries is a great way to enjoy Minnesota grown fruit all year long! Blueberries freeze very well and frozen blueberries can be used in a variety of ways. We love warming them up and putting them on pancakes or waffles, using them for baking, and putting them in smoothies. Below are our step-by-step instructions for freezing blueberries. This method will help avoid freezer burn and keep your berries from freezing together in one solid chunk.
Step 1
Rinse berries well and thoroughly dry them. They need to be very dry as any excess moisture can contribute to freezer burn later on. Be sure to remove any stems that might be hanging on.
Step 2
Place clean, dry berries on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer. Be sure that they are spread out well and not overcrowded. Place in the freezer for at least two hours but no longer than 24 hours.
Step 3
Remove frozen berries from the baking sheet and place into freezer bags. Be sure to squeeze all of the air out of the bags and seal well. Place bags in the freezer.
Now you can enjoy Minnesota grown blueberries all year long!
